Accessibility Statement

At Econopolis, we believe that digital accessibility is a fundamental part of an inclusive online experience for all users—regardless of their physical, sensory, or cognitive abilities.

Under the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which took effect on June 28, 2025, organizations such as ours are required to make our digital services accessible and to provide transparency on this matter through an accessibility statement. The EAA aims to reduce barriers for people with disabilities and requires that websites comply with international accessibility standards (such as WCAG) and that a statement be published regarding the website’s accessibility status.

This statement explains how our website is currently accessible, what we are doing to ensure accessibility, and how we are continuously improving it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at compliance@econopolis.be.

How do we ensure that our website and services are accessible?

Internal Guidelines and Standards

We strive to ensure that the Econopolis website complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which are internationally recognized as the benchmark for digital accessibility.

Accessibility considerations are incorporated into new web pages, content elements, and features starting from the concept and design phases. Our approach includes, among other things:

  • Accessible navigation, so that users can navigate our website smoothly even when using a keyboard, screen reader, or other assistive technology.
  • Logical order for navigating the content on our website.
  • Use to create headings that improve readability and navigability for everyone.
  • We strive to ensure that all information and communication is written at an accessible reading level .
  • Contrast and use of color that meet visual accessibility requirements
  • Subtitles on our videos that make the content more accessible to people with hearing impairments.
  • Videos can be paused at any time.
  • Personal contact: You can contact Econopolis or an account manager at any time

Tests and Monitoring

We conduct periodic checks using (semi-)automated accessibility tools to identify and resolve technical issues.

Content Management

When content is updated (such as news articles, blog posts, and general information pages), we follow internal guidelines to ensure that text, media, and forms remain accessible.

Every technical update to the website or a web page also takes accessibility guidelines into account to improve the perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness of our website.

Where can we still improve?

We are continuously improving the accessibility of our website. Specifically, we are working on the following areas to ensure compliance with the WCAG guidelines:

  • Meaningful text alternatives will be added to photos and images to make descriptive information accessible to screen reader users
  • A screen reader will be able to read aloud what is displayed on the screen
  • Audio description will be added to videos. Audio description is additional audio that is added to a video. A voice then describes what is happening on screen.
  • This way, users can understand the video's content just by listening to it, without seeing the images.
  • Links will be highlighted with "tooltips." You can view them by moving your mouse over a link—or, in other words, by hovering over it.
  • Form fields will be provided with the corresponding labels
